AM6411: Compatibility with Microchip Ethernet PHY VSC8501XML-03

Part Number: AM6411

Hi there!

As a part of our client requirement, who belongs to the Oil and Gas Industry, we are implementing Gigabit Ethernet connection for data transfer in our application.

We have chosen the Texas Instruments microprocessor TI AM6411, and want to select an Ethernet PHY which is compatible with the TI processor.

We want to go with RGMII interfacing option between the ethernet PHY and main processor.

We have selected VSC8501XML-03 Ethernet PHY, manufactured by Microchip.

Can you kindly confirm if the TI AM6411 and Microchip VSC8501 XML-03 are compatible with each other?

Thank You.

  • Hello AV,

    Thank you for the query.

    The AM64X supports RGMII interface.

Please refer to the AM64X EVM and SK to understand the interface.

For the VSC8501 we have not done any analysis and do not have suggestions on the compatibility.

Please consider doing timing analysis and if you have any specific queries, we could help answer.

AM64x EVM could be the starting point for design.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa
