TDA4VM: Linux support policy

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi,

I would like to know which is the TI policy with respect to the Linux distribution available for the TDA4 and distributed in the Processor SDK Linux.

Is TI going to support future Linux upgrades or bug fixes (for example about security)?

What is your release and maintenance policy with respect to critical bug or vulnerability issues?

Thanks for the support.

  • Hi Ugo,

I will answer this question in two separate ways to give you clarity.

    1. TI is making public releasing the SDKs on ti.com at a regular cadence.  Please refer to all the release versions at this link: https://www.ti.com/tool/download/PROCESSOR-SDK-LINUX-J721E and we have plans to continue to make releases in 2023 for Jacinto 7 devices including TDA4. Every year (with the exception of 2022 where we did not migrate the LTS), TI releases move to the latest LTS.
    2. Since the TI SDK's are based on LTS versions of the Linux kernel, customers are enabled to easily pick up the security vulnerabilities from the LTS branch and apply to their products if you choose to stick to a particular version of the SDK for a longer time.

    Regards
    Karthik
