AM5728: IVA-HD subsystem function

Part Number: AM5728
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM5748,

Hi Support Team,

Could you please teach me if it is possible for each of the following items
when compressing with H.264 after capturing with IVA-HD subsystem of AM5748?

1. Inserting a fixed text string (the same text in the same position in all frames) into the video.

2. inserting an any text string (the same text in the same position in all frames) in each frame of the video.

3. inserting the time of day into the video.

4. creating a video by rotating the captured image by 90 degrees.

5. getting the information of frame dropping.

6. switching the output file to avoid frame dropping.

7. automatically save the specified frame as a thumbnail.

8. To output video in frame-by-frame format.

If AM5728 cannot achieve them, could please let us know if there are any recommended products that can achieve them on other devices?

Best Regards,
Kanae

  • Hi Kanae,

    Please find my responses:

    1) No, this is not possible via IVAHD, you will need to use GStreamer or graphics overlay to acheive this

    2) Same as 1

    3) Same as 1.

    4) Rotation is not supported by IVAHD, can be done through VPE.

    5) Frame drops are usually detected by higher level application. IVAHD will run to completion.

    6) Don't understand this but seems like not supported.

    7) You will need to use VPE or other processing elements to save thumbnail

    8) Video is already output frame by frame from IVAHD.

AM57 is capable of doing this but this cannot be done by IVAHD. it will need higher level applcation and other IPs working together.
