DRA829V: DRA829V

Part Number: DRA829V
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB8020B

Hi,

Couple of questions below on the DRA829V processor.

We will have three USB ports on our product.

* One Type-C USB port connected to SERDES3 block

* Two USB Host Type A ports.

My question is about the two USB Host Type A ports and how they can be connected.

Right now I have connected the USB Host to SERDES1 block and then I was planning to use a USB HUB(TUSB8020B) to create the two USB Host ports.

I was wondering if I need to use a USB Hub or if I can use two SERDES blocks to create the USB Host ports like for example

* One USB type A Host connected SERDES1

* One USB type A Host connected SERDES2

and then the USB Type C like described above

* One Type-C USB port connected to SERDES3 block

Will this work?

Best Regards
Goran

Q1;  Is it possible to run 2 superspeed USB ports simultaneously on one serdes block?
We would like to support  two USB Host ports from one Serdes block instead of using one USB 3.0 and need to add and external USB Hub like TUS8020.

Thanks!

  • Hi Goran,

My question is about the two USB Host Type A ports and how they can be connected.

My colleague will get back to you on this.

    * One USB type A Host connected SERDES1

    * One USB type A Host connected SERDES2

and then the USB Type C like described above

    * One Type-C USB port connected to SERDES3 block

    Will this work?

DRA829V support two instance of usb3.0

USB3SS0 can be connected  serdes 0 or serdes 3 , only one seredes can be used at time

USB3SS1 can be connected  serdes 1 or serdes2 ,cant be used simultaneously  as both of  them are connected to a mux so that only one serdes can be selected .

Q1;  Is it possible to run 2 superspeed USB ports simultaneously on one serdes block?

No it is not supported only one superspeed device port can be used (usbss0 on serdes 0 or 3, usbss1 on serdes 1 or serdes2)
