I have CCS v12 installation, and I let it update some time ago to newer release. What took my attention, version of CCS displayed in Help, About window does not match actual version of the software being installed.

That's odd.I used Update Manager to update my CCS 12.0 installation to CCS 12.1 and the Version number displayed also got updated to 12.1.
Under the "Installed Software" tab, are the CCS components also updated to 12.1? Do you see an entry for "CCSv12 Service Release Windows"?
Please note that it is holiday season here, hence responses may be delayed.

hmmm... it seems like the update may have been incomplete.
For example, I updated by CCS 12.0 installation to CCS 12.1. Then when I check the component versions, I see:

Perhaps you should try a clean new installation. Note that CCS 12.2 will be released early next month so it may be worth waiting for that version.

So likely something is out of order. I am a bit unhappy, that update was applied some unlucky way, and updater tool does not notice there are skips. Run updater one more time by hand - nothing found.
Sure, I'd better wait for next release, let's see what will happen there and postpone this question till that time.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please share your installation logs under [CCS INSTALL DIR]\ccs\install_logs so that we can take a closer look.
Sure, I'd better wait for next release, let's see what will happen there and postpone this question till that time.

Thanks. I see multiple errors in your log:
[00:14:06] httpGet message from software-dl.ti.com/.../timestamp.txt:
[00:14:06] CCS_ERROR: Failed to find a valid url for downloads, rolling back installer feature to 12.0.0.00009
...
[00:14:11] CCS_ERROR: There was an error while rolling back the installer version.
Looks like not only did the update fail,but there was a failure trying to roll back the installer version. Hence the confusion. I fear that you CCS version is in some bad intermediate state in regards to the CCS service updates.
As for restoring this, I'm not sure. I'll need to follow up with the installer experts. They are currently out for the holidays hence I'll need to follow up with them next week.

Well, there is no any urgency for me to stick with any specific version, and since new release is anticipated soon, perhaps it's time for me to get fresh install and see if further updates go well. I have to do several steps past installation to have my setup in working state, so update is kind a feature, which I hoped to reduce those steps. I wish we could trace the root cause of the failure so it does not repeat.
