TDA4VM: TX RX error for Ethernet Debug

Part Number: TDA4VM

Hi TI expects,

RTOS version: SDK8.4

Linux version: Linux 8.4

When debugging CPSW2G port1  and KSZ9031 phy through RGMII interface, some errors may occur and I cannot ping between the PC and the board. Please give me some suggestions to make Ethernet work properly.

I also attach some files as below.

Regards.

  • Hi,

Can you please check the RGMII Tx and Rx delays set in the phy? I am suspecting that the Rx delay is not set on the phy side when it should be. can you confirm this.

    Regards,
    Tanmay

  • Hi Tanmay,

    Thanks for your replay.

I have check my code and make sure that Tx and Rx delays had been set.

Please help confirm whether the delays setting is normal.

Are there any other configurations that need attention?

  • Hi Tanmay,

The block diagram is as follows.

The logic analyzer captures the data of tx rx, compares the data under normal conditions under qnx, and finds that the data is still quite different.

    ethernet normal under qnx

    ethernet abnormal under linux

    Regards.

  • Hi Tanmay,

Do I need to set delay in phy side(KSZ9031)? Because I have set delay in switch side(SJA1105).

    Regards.

  • Hi Tanmay,

Is there any progress on this question?

    I eagerly await your feedback.

    Regards.

  • Hi,

Regarding the delays, the MAC interface in CPSW has internal Tx-delay configured. So you only need to ensure that the rx delay is configured in the phy. But you are using switch as well. Can you clarify the following things for me :

    • How is the CPSW mac connected to switch, is it mac2mac?
    • If its mac2mac, how is this connection handled.
    • What is the delay configuration in switch?
    • the wireshark traces screen shot you have attached with the question do not have any replies from the pc? where were these traces captured? pc or evm?

    Regards,
    Tanmay

           Sorry for delay.

    • How is the CPSW mac connected to switch, is it mac2mac?

I also post the ethtool traces, please help me check whether it is normal.

  • Hi,

Do you see anything on PC when you do a transfer? Does PC receive anything?

Can you please check if the switch is receiving any packets or not? So its essentially two communications : cpsw to switch and switch to phy. The switch must also have statistics right? Can you check where exactly the break is present?

What is the address of the phy on the mdio bus? Can you confirm that you have updated the address in the device-tree node for the phy?

Otherwise there seems to be no issues in the ethtool traces.

    Regards,
    Tanmay
