AM6442: More info on PRU-ICSS multiplexing

Part Number: AM6442
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hey all, I'm looking at integrating an AM6442 into an industrial control application and have some very high level questions about the amount of PRU-ICSS resource available. I have a list of wants/needs, all of which the PRU can do, I'm just not sure if the two of them in the AM6442 can do all of this simultaneously or if we'd need off-SoC resources added in. This is just for feasibility at this point.

Features needed:

  • 2x 100Mb Ethercat
  • 3x BLDC Motor Control
  • 3x Absolute Encoder position interface

Everything I can find on these, particularly around the encoder interface is pretty sparce at this point. I think running the three motor control on one PRU is possible, and three encoder interfaces on the other is possible but can they then each also have an Ethercat interface? Is there a better "division of labor" between the two PRU-ICSS units?

Thanks for any help or advice,

Adam
