AM4378: Device Tree update for Linux5.10

Part Number: AM4378

We are migrating the Linux-BSP on one of our projects from 4.19 to 5.10

In doing so we got few compilation errors on DTS and we had to update the DTS for few of the nodes.

Attached is what we did to get it compiled and compatible with Linux-5.10

I need to ascertain if these changes are inline with what was originally happening w.r.t DTS on 4.19.

Would appreciate some help here

Thanks

  • Hi,

    Apologies for missing this request.

As you have experienced switching kernel versions usually will require making DTS changes as the community usually changes how nodes are defined, deprecation of definitions etc. The DTS will be a living document that is continuously because of the alignment in community usually leads to more efficient DTS structure, naming.  While this is frustrating as it complicates kernel upgrades these changes are for improving node definitions and how the driver code parses them.

    Best Regards,

    Schuyler
