Stopping and restarting the MCASP

I want to enable and disable transmit on the MCASP on demand. I have found a sequence for enabling the clocking of the MCASP. I have not found a sequence for disabling the clocking of the MCASP. Can someone point me to the correct sequence for disabling the MCASP? Also, do I need to initialize the MCASP every time I want to enable the MCASP?

Thanks,

Greg.

  • I believed that the problem was strictly with the stop operation but through testing today I have experienced problems with start as well.

I am use a LogicPD OMAPL-138 SOM. I want to have the MCASP continuously receive, but only transmit when the application requires. Has anyone tried this on the L-138 and particularly the LogicPD SOM?

Currently neither the MCASP nor the EDMA are indicating any error conditions.

    Thanks,

    Greg.

  • Let me simplify the question: On the OMAPL-138 can I configure the MCASP receive to operate continuously serviced by EDMA and start and stop the MCASP transmit as needed serviced by EDMA?

From my experience so far this is not reliably functional.

    Thanks,

    Greg.
