TMS320C6678: Code Composer Studio using System Analyzer

Part Number: TMS320C6678

I am trying to follow document "spruh43f.pdf", section 5.1 "Quickly Enabling UIA Instrumentation",  but cannot get the "built-in" software instrumentation for CPU Load, Task Load, etc. to work.

I have my C++ application building, running fine on Core0 and can single-step, debug, etc.

My basic setup info is as follows:

  • TMDXEVM6678LXE evaluation module running C++ software on core 0.
  • CCSv11.2
  • Products:
    • XDCTools 3.62.1.16_core
    • MSCSK PDK TMS320C6678 1.1.2.6
    • SYS/BIOS 6.76.3.01
    • System Analyzer (UIA Target) 2.30.1.02

I can provide more information as required.

Thank you very much for your help,

Bill

  • Bill,

We are sorry to say that the support for the "UIA Instrumentation" was stopped with the CCS version 5.

And now, we are at CCS 9/10, in which it is not supported for Keystone I and II devices.

  • Hi Shankari,

Is there any performance/analysis data that I can view while running TI RTOS applications on the TMDXEVM6678LXE EVM?

For instance, under "Tools -> RTOS Analyzer" or "Tools -> System Analyzer" or "Tools -> Hardware Trace Analyzer", etc....  - or anywhere else in CCS?

I think you are stating - I can - but only if I go all the way back to CCS Version 5?

    Thanks for your help,

    Bill

    Yes, that's right.

Is there any performance/analysis data that I can view while running TI RTOS applications on the TMDXEVM6678LXE EVM?

If you are looking for the performance of the processor device, say, C6678, you could choose to run the DSPLIB examples which will result in the benchmark results and outputs.

if you are looking to view the performance of the app, system analyzer is not upto date for the version of CCS beyond 5/6.
