Multimedia Framework in OOB Android SDK for TMDSEVM3730

Hi,

I have recently bought TMDSEVM3730.

I need to develop an application to playback streaming audio from internet.

I wish to check

- What is the multimedia framework that out-of-the-box Android SDK for TMDSEVM3730 supports (gstream, StageFright,...)?

- Does Android SDK for TMDSEVM3730 come with DMAI support?

- Does DMAI support network audio stream (mp3, aac, wma) playback?

- Any further reference, I can find on support of network audio stream (mp3, aac, wma) playback that comes alongwith TMDSEVM373o?

Gingerbread for DM3730EVM supports Stagefright multimedia framework, but it does not have GStreamer integrated.

The rowboat-gingerbread-dsp.xml manifest in Rowboat has DMAI integrated. DMAI is just a glue layer between multimedia framework and TI DSP S/W stack, the multimedia capabilities (such as network audio stream) should be taken care by the multimedia framework, not DMAI.

1) Reading from http://developer.android.com/sdk/android-2.2-highlights.html says:

Android 2.2 supports New media framework (Stagefright) that supports local file playback and HTTP progressive streaming.

2) Reading from yuor link says.

In TI-Android-FroYo-DevKit-V2.2, Stagefright framework with DSP acceleration is not supported.

3) Reading from http://code.google.com/p/rowboat/wiki/DSP says:

Rowboat_Gingerbread is similar to the features in rowboat-froyo-dsp.xml, but uses Stagefright multimedia framework instead of OpenCORE;

Please help me understand if TI-Android-FroYo-DevKit-V2.2 supports stagefright but without DSP support or does it not support Stagefright.

DevKit-2.2 has one build for AM37X (using rowboat-froyo.xml), which supports Stagefright, but no DSP support, another build for DM37X (using rowboat-froyo-dsp.xml), which does not support Stagefright, but supports DSP acceleration and OpenCORE.

Gingerbread for DM37X supports both Stagefright and DSP.

Hi Salim,

TI-Android-FroYo-DevKit-V2.2 supports stagefright without DSP

TI-Android-FroYo-DevKit-V2.2 supports opencore without DSP. You can switch between opencore and stagefright with the following commands

#setprop media.stagefright.enable-player <false/true>

Latest rowboat-gingerbread-dsp.xml supports stagfright wiyth DSP.
