Power On RESET issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6412, TPS3106

Hello,

I have a TMS320C6412 DSP based board and plugged into PC. when the PC is power-on, the DEVSTAT doesn't shows the exact configuration and I need to hard-RESET the DSP and then it shows correct values in the DEVSTAT register but PC hangs as I do manual reset through a switch.

I am using TPS3106 power-on reset chip & could you please give me some pointers to Reset timing requirements in data sheet.

Any help on resolving this issue is appreciated.

 Thanks,

-Srini

  • What values of DEVSTAT do you see before and after the hard reset?  The DEVSTAT register latches values from based on the state of corresponding pins on the rising edge of reset.  If you are seeing incorrect values then that would be indicative of those pins not being correctly terminated at power-up, or perhaps not enough delay for your power rails to ramp before releasing reset.
