We are currently using MCU_CPSW0 for Ethernet communication. Due to hardware reasons, we think about changing the PHY interface from RGMII to SGMII with the next revision of our custom hardware. Accordingly, we would have to move from MCU_CPSW (which don't support SGMII) to MAIN_CPSW.
Now from a software point of view there is the question what are the main implication when changing the CPSW. Development for this has not yet started, so this is more a high level question for what we have to expect and if its feasible, or if there may be more drawbacks in Sw than benefits in Hw. Another aspect could be that during the transition from old to new hardware, support of both solutions in parallel might be needed. So the more similar the programming interfaces of the two CPSWs are, the better.
About the environment: Ethernet is used by a baremetal application running on a MAIN domain R5F together with DMA support.
