L138 experimenter and DVSDK 4.02.00.06 uImage boot fail

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OMAP-L138, DA8XX, PMP

Hi,

A few days ago I was going to do an evaluation using L138 experimenter kit. DVSDK 4.02.00.06 was installed in a Ubuntu virtual machine successfully, the configuration was done with only one problem that I could not get experimenter kit uboot configured through Minicom, but it's solved by manually changing the boot arguments(I was going to use TFTP and NFS to boot up the system). Hooking up everything and turning on the experimenter kit, it booted up, but it hung just before the boot process was almost done. Below are the boot messages, the last message was different each time, but after 1st CMEM module related message. Also I found that when the system hung, the L138 CPU's temperature rose up near 60C in a few minutes.

  • Problem solved by re-flashing UBL and uBoot.

  • Hi,

The problem was not solved actually.

I've tried dozens of times this morning, it booted up successfully only twice, the 1st successful  boot up(just after reflashing UBL and uBoot) made me happy for a while and posted "problem solved" message, the following boots were all fail until I cleaned up the module connectors' pins and remounted it, this was the 2nd successful boot up, and then it just hung each time I powered on the experimenter kit. I also tried flashing UBL and uboot again, but no lock.

For most of failed bootings, it stopped after showing "heap fallback enabled - will try heap if pool buffer is not avaible", only once "cmemk initialized" was shown before it stooped.

    Can anyone provide some hints?

    Thanks,

    clliu

  • A stupid mistake, configured the experimenter kit with 128MB ddr ram instead of actual 64MB. Now it really works.
