J721EXCPXEVM: TRACE lines multuiplexed with deserializer in Jacinto7 J721E/DRA829/TDA4VM Evaluation Module

Part Number: J721EXCPXEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PCM3168A

Hello.

I have seen that TRACE lines from MIPI-60 in EVM are multiplexed with Deserializer, GPMC and Audio Coded PCM3168A.

Then, it seems that we can not use TRACE having a SW solution using inputs from McASP10 & 1. Is this correct?

Thinking in future designs using J721E SOC, could McASP0 & 1 and also GPMC be routed to other PADs in order to have them available with TRACE capability?

Many thanks

  • TRACE is not a dedicated interface - thus is always shared with other signals.  Yes - if TRACE is being used - the other functions on those pins are not available.  You can adjust width of the TRACE bus (number of bits used).  This impacts the TRACE data bandwidth, but can lesson the impact on other interfaces.  If TRACE is to be supported, yes early planning can help in determining which pins are used for other interfaces.
