a CPU reset typically does not disconnect from the target.

System and Board level resets do typically require the target to be disconnected.

In your case, are you referring to the former or latter?

Its a board reset, we are powering off whole device or making it go to sleep mode. Its the only way to make it go thew initialization (and Johnathan just copied my request and send me link to this conversation i don't think he will answer you).

A board level reset will require the debugger to disconnect. 

There may be some actions specified in the startup GEL file that occur when the target is connected (via OnTargetConnect() callback), That may cause the connect sequence to take longer. Howeverm I assume you would need these actions to occur after a board level reset
