Hi,

I have custom h/w based on the DRA829J/J721E.  I have been modifying u-boot to remove EVM specific h/w that my h/w does not have.

I'm stumped by this message from u-boot.  Is this part of the J721E or is it a device on the EVM.

I think I can remove it by removing this - CONFIG_PHY_CADENCE_SIERRA=y - Correct?

    Hi Stephen,

    This is the Phy for USB. So as long as you are not using the USB in U-Boot this can be disabled.

    You could disable the usb node itself that finally so that none of the dependent nodes get probed.

    Hi Keerthy,

    I need USB functionality in all boot firmware (tiboot3/tispl/u-boot) so that DFU over USB can be used.  I only need USB 2 functionality, so no SuperSpeed/USB 3. 

    I believe I have enabled this like so:

    k3-j721e-common-proc-board-u-boot.dtsi:
--------------------------------------
&usbss0 {
   u-boot,dm-spl;
   ti,usb2-only;
};

    Can you confirm?.

    Hi stephen,

    You can remove CONFIG_PHY_CADENCE_SIERRA as in evm this was used to probe serdes0 that will be used by Ethernet.

    Your DFU will work even if you remove this.
