Hi,

I want to see a timeline of all the time slices of the threads of my application to see where are the bottlenecks are and which threads are waiting/active.

Is there something provided with Arago that comes with the Linux SDK? e.g. ftrace or something like qconn in QNX.

Obviously a profiler that also profiles the other cores (mostly C7X) would be interesting, but just a Linux profiler would suffice.

Hi Keerthy,

These tools give me info about CPU usage and processes running.

I'm looking for something that would give me a timeline of the specific threads of a specific process. Which thread was active, which was sleeping, which was locked by a mutex, etc.

Kind of like qconn for QNX

Hi Fred,

There is no equivalent of the qconn for QNX on the Linux SDK.

If you are working with OpenVx, then you can try the RT_LOG option that is available to get an idea of where the bottlenecks in the various processing units are, across cores.

Hi Karthik,

In a previous E2E thread [url], you reference CPTracer that should be available with CCS and a JTAG probe. Can CPTracer achieve what qconn does?

CPTracer cannot do the functionality similar to qconn. Anyway, the URL is incorrect, can you clarify the E2E so that we can check further?

Did you look into the https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors/f/791/t/930770 that talks about RT_LOG in OpenVx? This comes close to what you are looking for.

Yeah I did look into that, but it's just for the openvx stuff. Our code uses other frameworks and has standard C++ threads. Moreover, it'd wouldn't show me stuff like another process clogging mine.

You mentioned that you are enabling a Linux kernel config. Can you mention the exact Kconfig symbol or the modifications you are doing to the OE build, so that I can check it with our dev. team?

Hi,

We basically enable FTRACE and the KPROBES kernel flags and add them to the ti_sdk_arm64_release within the v8_defconfig_map.txt file.

And then we add "lttng-tools lttng-modules lttng-ust" to the IMAGE_INSTALL packages.
