Where to find any old spru0123.pdf or others?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3715

Hi,

often stumbled on it, now finally asking:

Sometimes I find a hint on an document like here, spru007h.pdf in that case, which actually makes me being interested in. As your search function in lots of those cases does not deliver the wanted document links:

I wished I knew a place at ti.com, where I could give such a coded TI document name and get:

  • a valid link to the most current version of that document, best together
  • with an information which contexts (especially platforms) this is concerning (and maybe with alternative links for documents handling the same for other platforms).
  • Also often I miss documents online which f.e. come with your EZSDK, I wished, the were linked on that place as well.
  • And, last not least, I wished to get the alternative links to work sources at the TI wiki, if existing.

Possibly yet to be built step by step maintained by the community? So we should start... Of course, an TI-internal automatic registration and management system for TI's internally produced PDF-documentations would be the better choice. Maybe there is existing one and I only was to blind to find it.

Thanks in advance,
regards,
Joern.

  • Joem,

TI increments literature numbers when they are revised. If you search for a document using the alpha character at the end of the literature number, results can be unpredictable if that document has revised. The best thing to do is search by the root literature number without the revision letter. In this case, use the keyword search to look for SPRU007. This should return the correct result.

Here are two ways to find documents using direct links:

If you know the literature number of a document and you need the latest revision use this link: http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/<literature_number> (Use the first 7 character of the literature only)

Example:   http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spru007  will return the latest revision of the document.

If you want the latest DATA SHEET of a device, use this link inserting the GENERIC PART NUMBER at the end:

Example: http://www.ti.com/lit/gpn/tms320dm335   (returns literature number SPRS527C)

To find documents related to a specific platform or product line, I recommend browsing to the product folder, or using the technical document search on the device family home page.  For example, on the DSP + ARM Platform home page, http://focus.ti.com/dsp/docs/dsphome.tsp?sectionId=46, look toward the bottom of the page for Technical Documents under Get Support. Select the family and document type to narrow your search results and click go. Directly above it is a search box for wiki content.

Links to key wiki content can also be found at the bottom of the device product folder. For example, on the AM3715 device product folder, http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/am3715.html, scroll to the bottom to see links to key wiki content. Wiki content also appear as links from documents to the wiki. You might not notice this as wiki content unless you click on the link. Try the AM/DM37x Overview at the top of this product folder.

When looking on the product folder, you will only see documents that are applicable to that device or device family. You also have an option in the upper right hand corner to register for changes to this page. Changes would include notifications for new or revised documents.

I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Thanks!

  • Todd,

first at all thanks forthis part of your message:

It was the first time that I got clarified the naming rules of your documents, and the links work for me for some tests. Is that already decribed at a central place or faq? If not, it should be done, maybe I do it myself within the processors.wiki.ti.com. Because it seems to work. Great!

Problems might upcome concerning the GENERIC PART NUMBER. F.e. searching "generic part number" at processors.wiki.ti.com does not deliver anything. Is there anywhere a clearly structured overview WITH concerning "generic part numbers"?  (For my platform in the meanwhile I do know that number resp. string, of course).

As well sometimes I miss bridges to equivalent documents for other platforms. F.e., if you come from spru189g.pdf to spru732, then you know about spru731 and spru733. But I someone finds spru732 first and knows: that's what I need, but for C67 instead C64 - then a concerning linkage mechanism would be fine.

Apropos "linking mechanism": it would be great, if your website would have an input field for that search mechanism behind www.ti.com/lit/pdf...

    Thanks again,
    Joern.

  • Hi

The method below does not work for the 6678 datasheet

    It works for this

    http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/spraas7

But not for the 6678 datasheet

    http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sprs691

    It give an error

File does not begin with '%PDF-'

    http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/sprs691c/sprs691c.pdf

But works for the 6678 SRIO user guide

    http://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sprugw1

    Cheers2u

  • Hmm... not sure what happened there, for me it works and deliveres a valid PDF file sprs691c.pdf, for both of your links, www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sprs691 and www.ti.com/lit/ds/sprs691c/sprs691c.pdf.

    Regards,
    Joern.
