TMDS64EVM: MCU SDK Support and Known Issues

Our company is considering a purchase of the TMDS64EVM to replace the SK-AM64B boards that we have. Many of the examples for the SDK do not support the SK-AM64B board that we have. Also, the examples that do support the SK-AM64B have problems that cause errors to be reported and prevent them from running.

Before ordering the TMDS64EVM I would like to find out what versions of the MCU SDK are compatible, and what problems or limitations are known. How well is the LWIP network stack and FreeRTOS supported, and is gigabit Ethernet supported for the ICSW and both PRUs?

We will be using the AM6422 chip in our application. Our application requires one CPSW Gigabit Ethernet and one gigabit Ethernet on each of the PRUs. Our final hardware design will possibly have an addition (second) gigabit Ethernet on one of the PRUs (for a total of four gigabit Ethernet ports).

we are adding some more example support for SK EVM in our upcoming 08.06 Release by 1st week of April 2023.

I was able to get one of the Layer 2 Ethernet examples to work after correcting the two issues that I mentioned. Our management decided to go forward with our own network stack and FreeRTOS using the SK-AM64x board. At some point we will switch to our own RTOS that is part of a safety qualified product.

The April time frame for a working SDK would delay our project too long. We are proceeding with the current 08.05.00.24 version of the SDK. We want to verify that the hardware solution will meet our performance requirements before we design our hardware, and getting some of the software working is a priority.
