AM625: LVDS support LINUX | GPU

Hi 

I have assigned this our GPU/Display expert, however a few quick comments

The latest software buildsheet is

We are still working to update this in the context of the most recent 8.06 SDK release that came out last week, but feel free to let us know if there are any questions in terms of software features availability etc.

On Q2 can you clarify what you meant by hardware acceleration?

Is LVDS already supported for Linux? Whats the planned release?

Yes, LVDS is supported however we do not have any compatible panels that connect with SK-EVM available on ti.com. The panels will become orderable parts by the end of this month. In terms of SW, the driver is ready and here are a couple of files to get started:

Which GPU Type is used for the AM625?

Is Hardware acceleration already handled and supported?

If you are using Qt framework or other frameworks, the HW acceleration should be enabled by default. Our Linux drivers provide the necessary libGLES/libEGL libraries that you can compile your application against. In the link I shared above, try running the GPU examples to test the HW acceleration.

according to this article imagination tech is working on an mesa driver, would this also be an opportunity?

are these libs prebuild?

we are building our system on top of debian, are these libs compatible with the newest version?

The link that Mukul shared is for the open source driver for the AM62x GPU but that will be available towards the end of the year. 

With regards to Debian offering, we are working towards a solution and it will be available towards the start of 3Q. In terms of GPU acceleration and Debian, is there any specific usecase that you could share with us? For example, do you just need Qt app running with full acceleration?

thanks alot for the reply.

yes, your provided use case is exactly what we want in the first stage. we need to run an qt app with full acceleation and full touch/swipe support, due to qt6 support we are going directly with debian bookworm. second stage should be able to have wayland running with full acceleration.

is TI involved in this open source solution or is it handled by imagination tech/open source community?

are you going to switch to mesa as soon as it is available?

i also was searching for a timeline/release date but i couldnt find any information, do you know where can i lookup the state of this project?

Imagination Tech is doing the main develpment work and we are only involved with the testing aspect. I am not sure about your mesa question because we use mesa right now with the proprietary DDK.
