DRA722: DRA72X cannot be started when it is used on a J6 normal board

Part Number: DRA722
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DRA745

Hi Team,

I wonder if the DRA722 chip can be directly used on the DRA745 ready-made board? According to some documents, it seems that the design of DRA745 is compatible with the design of DRA722. It should be able to run if DRA722 is used on the board. But after we used DRA722, it cannot run.

First: Sysboot[15:0]

The current configuration is: 0x1000 0001 0000 0110

Crystal oscillator OSC0 is 20M

Crystal oscillator OSC1 is 24.576M

RTC clock is 32.768K

The current boot mode should be SD card

Through the measurement, we found

1. After power-on, the main chip would actively load the data in the SD card repeatedly, and the data of CLK CMD D0 could be measured, but the normal J6 chip should only load once, and the J6 ECO board that we used later would be loading repeatedly. What is the reason for this? UART 1 also didn't have any printed information. We measured DDR data and found only the clock had signal while others were high level.

2. We modified the lower four bits of the configuration bit to 0000. First it would be USB boot, but we did not have an external USB device. So, it should be booted from the second boot device EMMC which had some boot data of the previous J6. The CMD D0 data could also be measured on the EMMC signal, but there was still no printed information, and the phenomenon remained the same. After modifying the configuration, we found the semaphore of the SD card did not reach the waveform, indicating that the modification was valid.

3. We think from the current phenomenon, at least the clock system was working, but there was an abnormality in the process of loading BOOT. Could the current phenomenon be derived from some hardware configuration differences between J6 and J6Eco?

Kind regards,

Katherine
