Hi TI,
as far as i know you are currently working with the kernel 5.10 and you will move to kernel 6.1(LTS) with SDK9 in 2H23.
since the kernel 5.10 seems not to be mainline, are you going mainline starting with 6.1?
best regards

I'm not sure what exactly you mean by this statement but our goal we are continuously working towards is to have 100% SoC feature support in the mainline Kernel. For more recent Sitara family devices (AM6x family) some but not all features are integrated into the upstream Kernel. But this delta will get smaller and smaller over time. For example if you look at the new v6.1 TI integration Kernel under development (https://git.ti.com/cgit/ti-linux-kernel/ti-linux-kernel/log/?h=ti-linux-6.1.y) it carries less of the TI patches a specific device still needed on the v5.10 Kernel (ti-linux-5.10). A good example of where this effort will ultimately lead to for all our devices is if you look at AM335x. This device has been around a bit longer, and you can pretty much use the current mainline Kernel with it without needing any extras. Hopefully this helps clarify the state of affairs and the direction we are going.

Manuel,
also for AM62x specifically, please see this recent blog post from our SW dev team:
