AM3354: Inquiry about Cross-Compile Toolchain on Linux SDK(Ver: 08.02.00.24)

Miyazaki-san,

the TI Processor SDK Linux was developed and tested with that specific toolchain advertised in the SDK documentation. The use of other toolchains is not supported by TI. Also Yocto releases usually have a preferred/default toolchain (https://docs.yoctoproject.org/3.1.24/ref-manual/ref-variables.html?highlight=gccversion#term-GCCVERSION) and going away from that too far it will likely result in a lot of breakages during Yocto build.

But if you do do want to try it, here's how I would probably start:

• Switch the Yocto toolchain to "internal", see this blog post here https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1202155/faq-am6x-am335x-am437x-using-a-yocto-internal-toolchain-for-target-image-builds-and-cross-development-sdk-installer-generation-with-yocto-dunfell-based-v8-x-sdks-for-sitara-mpus. The reason you likely want to do that is because by default we use an external toolchain in our v8.x SDKs, which makes the entire build and toolchain + SDK packaging process a bit more complicated, and with that making it likely break easier.
• Populate the GCCVERSION build variable in conf/local.conf. You may also need to look at meta-arago/meta-arago-distro/conf/distro/include/toolchain-gcc.inc for additional things that may need to get updated.
