PROCESSOR-SDK-AM335X: Host Compatible of ubuntu from 18.04

Hi All,

we are using 08_02_00_24 SDK in this they have mentioned recommended Linux distribution is Ubuntu 18.04.(n1.2. Building the SDK — Processor SDK Linux for AM335X Documentation)

as we have EOL(end of life) of ubuntu 18.04 internally (organization) due to vulenarabilty.. can we migrate in to 20.04 as host OS.. if we are not able to migrate may i know what are the dependencies that might cause in ubuntu 20.x

While it is not officially supported you should be able to use that SDK v8.02 with Ubuntu 20.04 and 22.04. There's one issue with the toolchain installer that happens that you'd need to manually fix after installing the SDK, see this related thread here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1108107/am625-linux-sdk-supported-ubuntu-version/4119837 Also the build-related instructions in the SDK and some of the setup scripts may not 100% work out of the box, but all setup issues one encounters should be easily solvable.

The next update for the AM335x Linux SDK will be v9.1, which will arrive in 3Q2023. If you can wait for that, I'd recommend going that route.

(Note that there won't be another v8.x release for AM335x, and this specific device will also not be part of the v9.0 release in 2Q2023)
