SK-AM62A-LP: is there going to be a newer revision of this board ?

Part Number: SK-AM62A-LP

Hi,

I want to get one of these boards but it seems to be in early revisions. I want to do it for edge AI and streaming camera applications, is the current revision stable enough for that?

Also, on a different node, is this SOC pin-to-pin compatible with AM6254 ? I understand that it doesn't have GPUs but has encoders but I was wondering how much difference it would be in terms of making a new custom PCB board for it if we're coming from am6254.

Thanks a lot.

Best,

Amir

  • Hi Seyed

    >>I want to do it for edge AI and streaming camera applications, is the current revision stable enough for that?

    Yes

    >>Also, on a different node, is this SOC pin-to-pin compatible with AM6254 ?

No, AM62A has a lot of additional features and functionality including

    • 2 TOPs AI/DL engine,
    • Video Encoder/Decoder
    • Vision Processing Accelerator (VPAC)  with Image Signal Processing ( ISP) ,  and 32 bit DDR interface

So based on additional features/functionality integration and a bigger DDR with higher MT/sec support - this is not pin to pin compatible.

The peripherals that are common , boot architecture and security architecture is same, so you will see a great degree of software reuse for features you maybe using on AM62.

    Hope this helps
