Hi!
Yes you can have your boot files in the user partition as well, this is called "eMMC Boot using UDA" (UDA stands for User Data Area), see the boot mode selection table in the AM62x TRM. You'll need to use the boot mode B6=1, B9=B8=B7=B5=B4=B3=0.

If you search on the E2E there's a couple of related posts to this topic, like this one: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/954008/tda4vm-does-tda4vm-support-emmc-uda-partition-boot

Hi Andreas
Do we have detailed steps to burn boot files in user partition?
I tried it, but it didn't work, it seems that hangs on tispl.bin.
Can you send me a burning log to try it out?

Hi Ethan,
I don't think we have those particular steps readily available but we can certainly figure those out.
Can you explain how you are trying to program the eMMC UDA? Using USB DFU? Or some other method?
Also what is the boot log from your failing attempt?
Based on your steps/goal I'll then try to prove out a working solution.
