Dynamic Equalizer in audio

Hi Team,

Can you help us propose a DSP to our customer? Please see his query below:

"I'm working on a R & D project on stereo speaker. I encountered a problem of frequency response of speaker output changes drastically at different volume levels, like at lower volume bass decreased & treble becomes overpowering, at higher volume bass gets overpowering and treble disappears. I know this is normal with speaker driver..

Someone suggested to use DSP with dynamic equalizer..To control desired output response curve. Dynamic equalizer that is set to supposed to do change frequency as per requirement to compensate the flaw in the speaker driver..e.g. flat response at every volume.

Please help me find a DSP product that can do this or similar function."

Thanks in advance!

Kind Regards,

Jejomar

  • Hello Jejomar,

A dynamic equalizer is not a DSP peripheral / feature but an application that can be implemented with one. I don't see any collateral surrounding dynamic equalizers with our TI DSPs so it's likely this would need to be developed by the customer.

As far as a DSP suggestion, without any collateral to reference on what features are needed, I cannot really make a recommendation on a suitable DSP. If they are able to determine what capabilities the DSP requires, then they may be able to find a suitable part with our product selection guide.

    Best Regards,
