TDA4VL-Q1: Queries about SoC UID

Part Number: PROCESSOR-SDK-J721S2

Hello team,

I have some questions regarding UID for the device j721s2 ( tda4vx). And they are ,

1. I found from the TPR12 BOOT ROM software design document manual that the SOC ID that is seen on the the terminal via UART peripheral which is 32 bytes has different fields and one of them is UID.

Refer to the section 4.6 SOC identifier from TPR12 BOOT ROM software design document.

Can you please let me know what is the Start bit or the starting point and the size for the UID (device specific identifier) among these 32 bytes or is the whole 32 bytes called UID?

2. I am using a GP device and i get all zeroes as UID. Is it expected for GP device or is something wrong ? Will only HS device have UID other than Zeroes?

3. While retrieving the UID through TISCI API, is the UID fetched from the certificate(debug OID field) or the firewalled memory region of TIFS?

Could you please clarify these things regarding UID?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Vineetha,

    1. I am not sure what a TPR12 Boot ROM has to do with J721S2.

That said, we do have the SoC UID on J721S2 as well. Please see the Retrieving SOC UID  section of the TI-SCI documentation for details.

    2. Yes, this is expected. The SOC UID is only valid of HS devices, and is all zeroes on a GP device. Please see the device applicability in the corresponding TI-SCI message description in the Runtime Debug TISCI Description section.

    3. The UID is not fetched from the certificate. It is fetched form a memory location from within TIFS. The UID itself is populated by the ROM code.

    regards

    Suman
