Hi team,

Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:

A. TJA1101 is connected to RGMII5 as shown in the figure below:

B. Kernel has PHY driver selected:

1) Is there any Ethernet PHY debugging documentation available for reference on Linux?

2) The TJA1101 has CONFIG3/CONFIG2 configured to high, that is, PHYAD = 00110, how to modify the corresponding address in the drive code?

3) How to configure pin multiplexing?

Could you help check this case? Thanks.

In the phy node, you should mention the PHYAD in the reg property. See [PSDK Linux Install dir]/board-support/linux-[commit-hash]/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/net/ethernet-phy.yaml for more details.

It seems that you are using RMII7 with the phy. Check the pinmux guide section here to set the configure the pinmuxing.

1. The following doc have been referenced by the customer when configuring on Linux, using the RMII interface. But there is no device tree in the list for RMII, can it be supported? If so, how to modify it?

The RMII mode is supported. It can be used as follows from the ethernet port node -

&cpsw0_port1 {
	phy-handle = <&cpsw9g_phy12>;
	phy-mode = "rmii";
	mac-address = [00 00 00 00 00 00];
	phys = <&cpsw0_phy_gmii_sel 1>;
};

This looks like a pin conflict. The pin used for RMII_REF_CLK is being used by some other peripheral. Its ball number AD18 according to datasheet. Can you check.

I am closing this thread as it seems duplicate and we will continue discussion on the other thread.
