SK-AM62: Unable to boot SK-AM62

Hi Mitesh,

Are you using the latest processor SDK release to test on your SK-AM62 board?

Also if your board shows SK-AM62 then it might be a GP device. HS-FS boards are with part numbers SK-AM62B/SK-AM62B-P1

If its a GP device then you might have to rename the tiboot3.bin (As the default that comes with SDK release image is for HS-FS) as mentioned in the link you shared(AM62 Linux Academy).

Please check the bootmode switches in order to boot correctly. I am guessing you are trying to boot with SD card. 

SK-AM62 board is going to be AM625 - Quad core A53 and it has GPU support. AM623 doesn't have GPU (Refer Data sheet Section 5 - Device Comparison, Table 5-1)

Appreciate if you could share the steps you followed in case you are still facing issues booting up the SK-AM62 board.

Please provide the updated boot settings for SK-AM62x Rev E3A, the user Guide and the above link are different.

HI Suren, thanks for your message. 

Yes, I am using the latest SDK 8.6.0.42 but I have just downloaded the WIC image and flashed as per the instructions and then renamed the tiboot3.bin as per the link. But still unable to boot the device.

still no info on the UART and not booting. 

Is the SPRUJ40A May2022 - Revised Feb 2023 AM62x SK EVM User's Guide Section 2.5 wrong?

Please refer the attached Boot mode switch configurations:

This is also available in Linux Academy -> Develop Linux on TI EVM -> Boot Mode -> EVM Boot Mode Switches (Section 3.6.3)

Suren, the dip settings are as per "SD card boot", and still no luck.

Can you try using picocom/minicom on linux system and see the same behavior? 

Also if you could flash the default image again using BalenaEtcher and see if the boot partition has all the relevant files (u-boot.img, tispl.bin, tiboot3-am62x-gp-evm.bin etc..) and rootfs on ext4 partition. If you could try using another SD card or something.

If not, we can schedule a call and see what might be happening.

Suren, I did try on teo different PC and using two different applications Real Term and Putty and no difference. I was thinking to reflash so will do that and report. And would be good to schedule a call please. 

I now have the SDK and have built the kernel and also tried loading the Image, k3-am625-sk.dtb on to the rootfs/boot folder and still not difference. DIdnot build the u-boot and did not change the file to tiboot3.bin <--- this was not mentioned in the kernel build procedure for the SDK.

Hi Suren, I don't have the 2nd board plugged in as of now. Let me know what you think is the next step. 

All I get on booting up is 0xF0 on UART
