AM6421: Why dose the AM6421 have DS pin while connecting eMMC?

Part Number: AM6421

From the datasheet of AM6421, it only supports HS200 mode while connecting eMMC.

And from the eMMC v5.1 standard, we can know that DS(Data Strobe) pin is only used in HS400 mode.

So the AM6421 does not support the HS400, but why dose it has the DS pin? Can we not connect this pin when use the eMMC?

  • The design team was not able to close timing with enough margin to support HS400 timing requirements, so it is not possible to support the mode of operation. I recommend leaving this pin unconnected since none of the modes supported will use this signal function. The AM64x MMC0_DS pin has an internal pull-down that will hold it in a valid logic state when not driven by another device.
