Java/JVM support for AM/DM37xx EVM

Hi,

I apologize in advance if this question is too primitive for this forum.

We plan to use AM/DM37xx, Sitara EVM for running Java application. My questions are

1. What target OS should we choose to have JVM? I understand I can have Linux/Android(FroYo , GingerBread ) /Win Embedded CE on the AM/DM37x EVM

2. Has anyone run java application on the AM/DM37x EVM If so, please do share links on where I can start

Hello,

1. Android has a JVM which is optimized for embedded, and TI provides an Android port to AM/DM37xx. If you just want to focus on writing Java, and the Android API is sufficient, this is a good way to go. There are third party JVM:s available for ARM Linux as well, but you would have to integrate those on the system.

2. Most if not all Android apps are written in Java, and the above download contains plenty of them. You can download the Android SDK from Google's website to write apps which will run on our Android port.

I agree with Niclas.

You may also choose to use Code Composer Studio 5.1 (Linux/Eclipse based) and install the Android ADK plugin to develop Android projects.

Follow the instructions in the Developers Guide documentation found at the link above.

HI,

Did you get the JRE/JVM for running the JAVA apps. I want to run JAVA Applications on AM1808 platform. Please share some tips on where to start or if you have the cross-compiled JAVA binaries please share.
