XDS560v2 or XDS510 Emulator

hi,

i started to work on the DM8148,DM8168 and i what to know what Emulator is preferred by Ti for these chip

in the DM8168 EVM and doc only the XDS560v2 is mentioned

but in the DM8148,DM8168 site TI recomemends the XDS510

is it recommended to use the XDS560v2 with the DM8148

Both of them will work on DM8168 EVM but XDS560v2 is faster. XDS560v2 is also more expensive that XDS510 if you notice.

Pablo,
Spectrum Digital or Blackhawk XDS560v2 are working. SDXDS510usb support is available as an update from the Spectrum Digital. I made the experience that I need an adapter for the SDXDS510usb to connect the EVM8148, which is already included with the XDS560v2.

We are using Mistral DM8148 evaluation board. Which emulator is recommend for this board?

Can we use XDS560v2TDM and XDS510 emulators?

Hi Amit,

Both XDS560v2TDM and XDS510 emulators will work with the DM8148 EVM. But XDS560v2TDM will be much faster and will include some more features than XDS510.

Hi Pavel,

Thanks for your response. 701219 is a 14 pin to 20 pin connector. Is there any need for voltage translation to use with DM8168 target. I found 701212, which is also 14 to 20 pin connector but with voltage translation. So which adapter I have to use with my XDS510USB emulator to connect with DM8168 target.

You can use both. DM816x EVM JTAG signals levels are 3.3V (TVD pin connect to 3.3V, see DM816x TI EVM schematics), and XDS510usb emulator is compatible with +3.3V or +5V processors, so you can use 701219.

701212 is necessary for 1.8V processors.
