Removing desktop icons on Angstrom/gnome

On beagleboard-xm, I'm running the prebuilt angstrom build Angstrom-Beagleboard-demo-image-glibc-ipk-2011.1-beagleboard.rootfs.tar.bz2.  For demo purposes, I need to 1) set my own wallpaper, and 2) remove the five desktop icons (Computer, root's Home, Angstrom, boot, and Trash).

Changing the wallpaper was no problem.  Can anyone tell me the simplest way to remove the 5 icons?  I assume there's a config file somewhere under the root home folder, but haven't so far located it.

By the way, I have to do this using command line.  For unknown reasons, the usb port, and consequently my mouse and keyboard, don't work with this build, although they work on other builds on the same board.  So, I can't use anything simple like right clicking each icon and removing it.

Thanks,
Ron
