SK-AM62: Creating a first 'Hello World' application and run it on the EVM

Part Number: SK-AM62
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CCSTUDIO, SYSCONFIG, UNIFLASH

Hello all,

I have just started using the SK-AM62 EVM board from TI.

I was able to start the board and boot the EVM using SD card as described under link

https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=A__AdoyIZ2jtLBUfHZNVmgFBQ__am62x-devtools__FUz-xrs__LATEST&search=am62x

I have also installed the CCS studio IDE both on my Windows PC and also on a Linux PC (Development Host) with Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS

I'm trying to create a first simple 'Hello World' application (maybe using CCS) build it and run it on the SK-AM62 evaluation board. I would like to understand from you how I should do this because I have tried in various ways and did not manage to do this... I would like to get some clear answers from your side.

  1. Which is the "boot mode" I should use for what I need (SD card boot / UART boot / eMMC boot)
  2. The CCS Studio should be run on the 'Development Host' (Ubuntu) or we can also use it on the Windows PC and still be able to connect to the EVM and load the application.
  3. The SDK installer can be run only under Linux (Ubuntu)? On your web site there is an indication "How to Run the SDK Installer in Windows" https://software-dl.ti.com/processor-sdk-linux/esd/AM62X/08_06_00_42/exports/docs/devices/AM62X/linux/Overview/Download_and_Install_the_SDK.html
  4. When trying to create a new target from CCS Studio (on the Ubuntu PC) I get an error. I will try to insert a picture. This step was possible on the Windows PC. So what is wrong here?

Thank you for your support. I will continue to try but I'm not so experienced with Linux development and also new to the TI tools.

Dan.
