PROCESSOR-SDK-AM62X: About UART with DMA

Hi experts

Does AM62 support UART DMA mode transmission?

It is clearly stated in our MCU+ SDK that DMA mode is not supported, and there is basically no description of DMA mode in our Linux SDK.

If we support DMA mode, what are the configuration steps? if not, is there any plan?

Hello Ethan Tian,

AM62X has UDMA peripheral, which is mainly available on R5F and A53 cores and not available in M4F.

In MCU+SDK, we support examples mainly on M4F and R5F for limited applications. So, you can't use UDMA Peripheral in M4F. I understand that you are trying to use UART UDMA in the Linux SDK. Can you please confirm whether you are trying to use the UDMA peripheral on the Linux side or MCU+SDK?

Hello Ethan Tian,

As per TRM, MCU UART DMA interrupts can be routed to the A53 core. Please see the below image for more details.

So, definitively, MCU_UART can support DMA in A53 cores, and I am not an expert on Linux cores.

So, I am forwarding your question to Linux experts.

Actually I'm not only use DMA mode on MCU_UART, but also MAIN_UART. At present, there seems to be a lack of description of UDMA on our TRM. I don't know how to configure it.
