AM625: Solder mask opening

HI

We are maintaining solder mask opening same as that of pad size to maintain minimum clearance between BGA pads. However in datasheet its recommended to have extra 2 mils of solder mask opening w.r.t bga pad size. similar is also followed in evaluation board.

Please let us know if its ok to have solder mask opening same as that of pad size.

Hi Sreenivasa

EVM has an implementation of extra 2mils for solder mask opening for BGA pad as recommended in datasheet.

following is our implementation

We have done this to reduce risks during assembly.

Thank you for the input.

There is an SMD type or NSMD type. Not sure which one matches your design. SMD type may not be feasible given the device pitch.

The recommended approach is to check with the assembly house. The 2 mil takes care of the assembly variations.

From my side, the suggestion is to follow the datasheet recommendation.

I am checking internally if there is an alternative suggestion.
