RE: Debugging SK-AM64B

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SK-AM64B

This is a continuation of the debugging that was started on another thread with this initial comment: e2e.ti.com/.../4606054

the last responses where this was turned into a separate e2e thread:

Thank you for pointing that out, I will look into that some time this week. Just read some of It and seems like that might be getting us closer to solving this. I have not had any luck finding what the red LED on the bottom indicates. Its assumed to be a fault, but of what?

...

Do you know who did the hardware layout on the board with the M2 tag on it, assembly # PROC100A(002). If we can verify the actual uart boot mode pin settings as stated in the TRM are correct that will help.

Per the docs

It should be send out the string to identify the device type, that does not work.

  • Hello Fred Fisher

    Thank you for the query.

    I am reviewing your inputs.

I will check internally if we could verify the UART boot mode and update you.

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Hello Fred,

You may have a look at this link:
    dev.ti.com/.../am64x_skevm_quick_start_guide.html
where BOOTMODE[15:0]=0243 for SD booting for SW2/SW3 as shown in the above link.
For UART boot, BOOTMODE[15:0]=003B, you may refer to "4.3.1 BOOTMODE Pin Mapping" in AM64x TRM for more details on BOOTMODE pins.

    Hello Hong,

Yes, those docs have been reviewed to ad nauseum. Some of the docs show the red board and it has the setting inverted, another one has been edited after the fact. I don't know what is correct,  we did not build the board........

Would you know why the red LED on the bottom is illuminated, is it a fault.

  • Hello Fred,
Can we run a very simple board sanity check on your board?
1/. configure SW2/SW3 as BOOTMODE[15:0]=003B for UART boot.
    2/. power on the board
    Any message from UART port?
I'm attaching the UART log file when booting from UART on SK-AM64B (M1) for your reference.
    Best,
    -Hong
