Hi Experts.

Our customer said that he will be using the SM320C6713-EP DSP and wanted to know if he could use Code Composer Studio to program this particular DSP. If so, would it be possible to get further training or help to start programming the DSP? He understand that SM320 is apart of the TMS320 family, but he is not sure where to start. Any link to tutorials would be helpful.

I can see from the product folder that CCSTUDIO is shared and indeed can be used. May we ask if you have any further materials that I can share with the customer?

Hello Gerald,

This is an old part. We can no longer provide design support for the C6713 family, as indicated on this product page: https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320C6713B . I'm sorry if this is a surprise for the 6713B-EP part. I tried to get a "no support" banner put up on the 6713B-EP page as well, but ti.com put up so many barriers that I could not. Feel free to complain to the ti.com team if you are getting a bunch of customers who are surprised by "no design support" parts that are not labeled as "no design support".

To directly answer the customer's question:

No, we cannot provide any hardware or software information or training, other than what is currently available on the product page: https://www.ti.com/product/SM320C6713B-EP . I would suggest that the customer use a more recent part if they want design support from TI.

The customer can search ti.com for other potential processors for their usecase. If they have specific questions, feel free to reply back and we can help out.

I still received feedback from our customer as shown below:

"Does TI still provide product support for SM320 series DSPs?
I also need to know if there's a "TM320" DSP that operates within the MIL-SPEC temperature range of -55 - 125°C.

I've attached an image showing both SM320 and TMS320 processors. It seems to be that TI changed the SM320 series to TM320 series while the MIL-SPEC packaging was left behind in the SM320. Is this the case?"

I am not super familiar with SM320 DSPs. The latest one that I am aware of (https://www.ti.com/product/TMS320C6748 ) no longer has software design support, as documented here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/processors-group/processors/f/processors-forum/1071334/notice-regarding-processor-sdk-ti-rtos-for-am335x-am437x-omap-l13x-c674x-k2g-devices

C6713 is supported by CCS on the desktop (specifically Windows and Linux) but not in the Cloud.

I don't think you'll find the SM320 device listed, but you should be able to use the TM320 equivalent.

One challenge is that C6713 was typically used with an XDS510 class debug probe. Those are not available anymore and they are not supported in newer versions of CCS. You would need CCSv8.3.1 or earlier if using an XDS510.

If they have an XDS560v2 then they could use CCSv12
