AM625: AM6254 junction temp is exceeds 115℃ under 85℃ ambient temperature

Part Number: AM625

AM6254 junction temp exceeds115℃ under 85℃ ambient temperature, caused CPU turn off.

When the ambient temperature exceeds 85℃, whether the radiator is required for AM6254.

  • Hello Toby Tang,

    Thank you for the query.

I need more information on the issue you are seeing.

Please help me understand the test condition and how the CPU is turned off?

    Is this a custom board?

    Regards,

    Sreenivasa

  • Test condition:

    Ta=85℃

    Test case: memtest,USB disk read & write,ethernet

Temperature threshold was set to 105℃,When junction temp exceeds115℃,software turned off.

  • Hello Toby Tang,

    Thank you.

What is the core voltage you are using?

If you are using the USB backup mode, the core voltage is required to be 0.85.

Have you done the power measurements and does that seem to be as expected.

Have you followed the pin connectivity table to terminate the signals.

There are many systems level care abouts that can contribute.

If you want to be safer and the design allows using a radiator (heat sink), you could use the same.

We do not seem to have used heatsink on the evm.
