C6713DSK AIC23 control

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS8364

Hello,

I am using the C6713 DSK with the ADS8364 EVM daughter card. This requires McBSP to be configured off board as the FSX, FSR, and CLKR lines are used to control the ADC.

The problem, is that I am trying to use the line out from the AIC23 codec to output an analogue signal and I am not sure whether it's possible to do that without affecting the daughter card...

I am also not sure what the McASPs are used for?

Can anyone help???

  • The C6713 DSK uses both McBSP0 and McBSP1 to communicate with the on-board AIC23 codec. Optionally, the McBSPs can be directed to the daughtercard for use communicating with devices on a daughtercard.

But you cannot use the McBSPs with both the AIC23 and the daughtercard. If the daughtercard does not use the McBSPs, then it might be possible to use both. The AIC23 definitely requires both McBSPs.

The McASPs are serial ports intended for multiple channels of audio data. They use serial port signal protocol similar to the McBSPs.

  • Ok, thanks for the reply. The board I am using does require McBSP1 to be configured off-board so I suppose I can't use both of them.

    Another question:

I am using the daughter card to acquire an analogue signal. I was told I can do that with the line-in as well, which would make life easier.

    Can anyone confirm this please?

Also, does anyone know what the voltage range is for the line-in input?

  • You should be able to use the line in connector, but keep in mind the AIC23B samples at a low rate. I believe you can input 0-3.3V but you may want to double-check in the datasheet.
