AM625: #AM625 #CAMERA interface #MDVR

We are doing Bus intelligent controller project using AM625 processor and want to interface camera application.

Below is the video streaming query

  1. MDVR (mobile digital video recorder) unit will be running a video streaming or storage server and need to be interfaced to bus controller unit  (i.e. on AM625) via Ethernet. AM625 will have Yocto Linux running on it.  video recordings or video streaming shall be accessed via browser.

Let us know above application is feasible with AM625 processor?

    Hello,

    You can get video in from either a USB camera or a CSI camera and then stream the video to a host via Ethernet. Would this work for your application?

    Thanks for your reply.

    We cannot interface USB camera or CSI camera as per our client.

    Below is the block diagram for our query to understand in detail.

    Along with Ethernet LAN,we will have LTE CAT1 module via USB interface to provide internet.

    AM6252 with 10/100Mbps Ethernet LAN will be connecting to MDVR and AM625 will have Yocto Linux running on it. Video recordings or video streaming shall be accessed via web browser. Kindly suggest that our use case will be supported by AM625?

    Hi,

    The video data must be broken up so it can be sent over Ethernet. We need to know more about how the video and possibly audio data is being. Can you describe the protocol the video recorder uses? What application is planned to be on the AM62x device?

    Hi,

    The protocol which we use is H.264/H.265 protocol also we require Video Decoder for this application and resolution max is 1280X768.

    Hi,

    So those protocols are good for streaming video as they are compressed streams. Since the streams are compressed storing the streams and serving them to the LTE modem should not be an issue. You will need the an appropriate web server to server up the streams. If this is just a server I am not sure I see the need for a video decoder.

    There is not a HW based video decoder in the AM62, any decoding will have to be done via a SW decoder.
