AM3505 and EtherCAT Slave

yes, EtherCAT master software usually requires a decent real-time OS and an Ethernet port exclusively for EtherCAT use.

So you can do EtherCAT master on many TI embedded processors now including the AM35xx range. The advantage here is the integrated EMAC.

There are a couple of open source as well as commercial solutions for EtherCAT master stacks.

EtherCAT master stack is available on the market, but how about SLAVE stack? Any commercial solution of EtherCAT slave based on TI AM35xx processors?

EtherCAT slave usually does require a dual EMAC and some special logic. This is not possible with todays AM35xx devices.

Most of the processor with MAC pheripheral would be able to implement EtherCAT master.

According to the link below, Sitara should be capable of running EtherCAT slave program as well.

we demonstrated a partial EtherCAT slave implementation at SPS/Drive fair 2010 as a prove of concept. We are working on new products that are not announced yet.
