AM3352: How to display CPU frequency, not MIPS.

Part Number: AM3352

Hello,

I'd like to confirm which CPU frequency is selected on AM3352's Linux kernel.  (I'm using SDK8.2.)

But I can't find any method or command to display CPU frequency.

On my Linux, "/proc/cpuinfo" and "dmesg" are not include CPU frequency information, and there are no CPU frequency information under "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/" and "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/".

The attached is the result of print these files/directories.

Could you teach me how to display CPU frequency?

  • Hi Naoto,

I just tested SDK8.2 on AM335x GPEVM, the sdcard image "tisdk-default-image-am335x-evm.wic.xz" provided in the SDK, cpufreq is there:

    root@am335x-evm:~# cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_cur_freq
    300000
    root@am335x-evm:~# cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_governor
    ondemand
    root@am335x-evm:~# uname -a
    Linux am335x-evm 5.10.100-g7a7a3af903 #1 PREEMPT Sat May 14 22:36:58 UTC 2022 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux

  • Hello,

    Thank you for reply.

As I showed the above, there is no files/directories under "/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq" on my Linux.

    root@localrmu:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq# ls -a
    . ..
    root@localrmu:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq# uname -a
    Linux localrmu 5.10.100-g7a7a3af903 #1 PREEMPT Sun Jan 1 00:00:00 UTC 2023 armv7l GNU/Linux
    root@localrmu:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq#

    I'll investigate why it is.

If you have any advice, please teach me that.

  • Hi Naoto,

Do you use TI AM335x EVM or your custom board? Do you use the prebuilt Linux image from the SDK or did you recompile the kernel? If latter, please check if CPUFREQ is disabled in kernel config.

  • Hello,

    Thank you for reply.

We're using a custom board, and recompile the kernel. But, we didn't any change regarding CPUFREQ.

The attached is our kernel config file. There seems to be several config about CPUFREQ which is set to 'yes'.

    I'll further investigate.
