getting start with DM816x

Greetings,

I am just starting to use TI’s Davinci DM816x and have zero experience on TI’s DSP/SoC before.

I already has the EZSDK and CCSv5 installed, but have no idea about how to begin even after reading some getting-start blogs/documents.

Basically, I understand that CCS will be used to develop source codes for both ARM and DSP, but how CCS and EZSDK work together?

In the TI website says there will application samples like “preconfigured projectsfor networked audio/video”, however I cannot find them.

We already ordered two EVMS, and I guess these application samples will be shipped to us together with the EVM. Am I right?

I am wondering where could I find these application examples, especially the one I mentioned above. It will take more than one month for us to have the EVMs in our hands.

We want to be able to play the EVMs as soon as we have them.

I recommend starting with

1) installing the SDK and

2) review the Quick Start Guide (QSG) (which shows how to setup the hardware platform)

3) Run the demos as show in the QSG

4) Review the Software Development Guide (found under <ezsdk_root>/docs

5) Review CCS information (install tools, etc.)

I already installed the EZSDK, however I cannot find the openmax related folders, where I guess the application examples like "preconfigured projects for networked audio/video" should be contained in

Do you have any ideas where can i find these application examples, it is hard for us to begin from scratch.

Been there...

Look under "omx_05_01_01_80" folder. Especially :

"\omx_05_01_01_80\packages\ti\omx\docs"

"\omx_05_01_01_80\packages\ti\omx\demos"

"\example-applications\omtb_01_00_00_02"

I download zip files for TI816x from 001 to 007. After files are extracted,there are many VMDK files, such as netra1day-s001.vmdk. what do they used for? And how could I open them?

As stated in the wiki page, you need to install vmware player first to use them. I haven't tried it... But at the time, I found the recordings of the lecture sections pretty usefull. Hope it helps...

Hi Marcus:

There are many vmdk files from netra1day-s001.vmdk to netra1day-s051.vmdk under netra1day. And those files could not open directly. would you please help me to check what they are used for? How to open they?
