Yes, all ESM group 3 errors will generate aborts directly to the CPU.

The difference between ESM group 2 error handling and ESM3 error handling is below

The ESM group 2 channels are error high severity. When any group 2 error occurs, the ESM module will then generate an interrupt request to the VIM module. Finally the VIM module will generate a FIQ interrupt request to the CPU. In esmHighInterrupt handler user will find out what leads to the ESM error and handle it per his/her application.

The ESM group 3 (high severity) channels have no interrupt response as they are reserved for CPU based diagnostics that generate aborts directly to the CPU.

Thats it?   How do I know what type of abort?

For TMS570LC43x, the ESM group 3 error doesn't generate abort. Please refer to section 6.20 of device datasheet.

Wait a minute, the other guy said it does generate an abort.   And section 6.2 of datasheet is about eCap.   Did you mean section 16.1.1 of TRM?    That vaguely says it generates an abort but does not say which one.  The documentation is very lacking here.
