gingerbread+dsp kernel panic on AM/DM37x Sitara

Hello,

I am trying to boot AM/DM37X Sitara board from NFS using

I am using the following url to prepare rootfs, and put the rootfs to the exported nfs directory.

I am bit confused with <<<mpurate=1000/720, mem=68M@0x80000000 mem=128M@0x88000000 mem=128M, mem=256M >>etc information I got from http://code.google.com/p/rowboat/wiki/DSP

The kernel bootargs from google and TI are not in sync. What should be the correct bootargs I need to pass to the kernel.

I got kernel panic, here is the attached l3276.kernel_panic.txtog for kernel panic.

Request your help pls.

Hi Batasayan,

Please try with the following bootargs.

setenv bootargs 'mem=76M@0x80000000 mem=128M@0x88000000 console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200n8 androidboot.console=ttyS0 root=/dev/mmcblk0p2 rw rootfstype=ext3 init=/init rootwait ip=off omap_vout.vid1_static_vrfb_alloc=y omap_vout.video2_numbuffers=0 mpurate=1000'

Tried with the following bootargs , still getting kernel panic. Pls find the attached log

Hi Batsayan,

Did you try with our pre-built images?

Please try with our pre built images located @

http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_tii/TI_Android_DevKit/TI_Android_GingerBread_2_3_DevKit_1_0/index_FDS.html under DSP Accelerated Multimedia section.

Pankaj,

Still getting the kernel panic by using pre-built images from DSP Accelerated Multimedia section.

The bootargs I am using is

setenv bootcmd 'mmc init;fatload mmc 0 80800000 uImage; bootm 0x80800000'

Pls see the attached kernel panic log. 1856.kernel_panic.txt

Is this kernel panic somewhat related to <<gingerbreage does not support processor card with Micron Memory theory? >> . I read this on

How can I get information on what memory is used in processor card?

Hi,

I try to use pre build images for AM37X from

(Pre-built Images--> AM37x EVM) section

Initially I can see the UI, but after some time the UI hangs with the following kernel panic 1134.kernel_panic.txt

Request your help on choosing the appropriate Android distribution. I tried both GingerBread_2_3_4_DevKit_2_1 and GingerBread_2_3_DevKit_1_0 ...but both gave kernel panic:)

Batsayan,

Do you have another board to try with, I am afraid this could be a memory problem or so. It will be good to talk to you local TI sales and get some advice on trying the same images on a different board. Where are you located? You can mail your details to khasim at ti dot com

Hi,

The same board does not hang now with the same pre build image, I do not know how.

You may refer to the kernel panic log I posted earlier for further debug on the issue if you feel so.
