SK-TDA4VM: demo image for rPI 40 pin header, UART and SPI

Hi TI,

I'm trying to do a quick evaluation of the TDA4VM by integrating the SK-TDA4VM board in to my setup. The 40 pin header functionality contains pretty much everything i need. SPI, I2C, UART and GPIO. But i'm learning that SPI and UART aren't enabled in the demo load by default.

Is TI able to generate for me a new demo image that has the rPI header functions enabled? Really rather not have to setup a build machine and learn all this just to turn on two features. I'm a hw guy :)

Hi Adam,

Enabling the 40-pin header is simple: Add "k3-j721e-sk-rpi-hdr-ehrpwm.dtbo" to the last line of /run/media/mmcblk0p1/uEnv.txt file and reboot your board after saving the file.

Does this enable the SPI and UART going to the header? I believe this only enables GPIO as stated. Also see below pic from the schematic. They show SPI5, UART2 and I2C5 going to the header. I've tested I2C5, it is enabled but I don't think UART2 or SPI5 are.

TI J72e SK development board contain a 40 pin GPIO header, similar to the 40 pin header in the Raspberry Pi. These GPIOs can be controlled for digital input and output using the Python/CPP libraries provided in the TI GPIO Library packages.

Hi Adam,

No it does not. To enable SPI and UART, you will need to make changes to the k3-j721e-sk-rpi-hdr-ehrpwm.dts file yourself. Currently, we do not have this enabled in this SDK release.
