SK-AM64B: Unable to establish debug connection with XDS110

Hello,

I am setting up my SK-AM64B following the getting started guide. My development platform is running Ubuntu 22.04 with the AM64x MCU+ SDK 8.05.00.24.

After installing CCS 12.3.0.00005 the install_driver.sh file was run successfully and the computer was restarted.

I could successfully flash the NULL bootloader for the HS-FS version and I get the expected output in the terminal at boot (see attached picture).

After disconnecting the terminal, in CCS, when I try to "Launch Selected Configuration" I get an error that the connection to the XDS110 failed.

I assume the USB-cable is working, as I get the bootloader output and I could successfully flash the bootloader.

Also trying to read information from the debugger using the xdsfu utility is unsuccessful (see attached image).

Is there any other step required to be able to use the debugger?

Hello Matthias,

I am working on your thread.

Can you please share the image in the thread since I am not able to open your attached image?

And can you please confirm that after facing the problem, you can try to turn Power Off to ON and reconnect the debugger USB cable to see if you are facing the problem or not?

Please see the picture in the chat below.

I can confirm that turning the power off and on and reconnecting the USB cable does not solve the problem and I get the same behaviour.

Hello Matthias,

As per XDS debugger documentation, the above issue you faced should fall under the below reasons.

XDS110:

    This error is generated by TI's USCIF driver or utilities.

    The value is '-260' (0xfffffefc).
    The title is 'SC_ERR_XDS110_OPEN'.

    The explanation is:
    An attempt to connect to the XDS110 failed.
    The cause may be one or more of: invalid firmware update, invalid 
    XDS110 serial number, or faulty USB connection. The firmware and 
    serial number may be updated using the xdsdfu utility found in 
    the .../ccs_base/common/uscif/xds110 directory of your 
    installation. View the ReadMe.txt file there for instructions.

So, can you please try to update USB firmware from below steps .

If the above method also does not work, I am suspecting that your PC should give you permission to access the debugger.

Please try to give the below command to access them.
